James Gilmer Sorrell, Class of 1947

James Gilmer Sorrell, Jr. ’47 died Sept. 16, 2016. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was co-captain of the Otterbein football team and a volunteer fireman for the City of Westerville. He was a biology teacher, coach, principal and a vocational specialist in Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Marian McNaught Sorrell ’46. He is survived by two children; three grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.
