Jean Share Sherriff, Class of 1951

Jean Share Sherriff ’51 died on May 8, 2019. Born in Brookville, Ohio, on May 24, 1929, to John and May (Thomas) Share. She graduated from Brookville High School ’47 and Otterbein University ’51. During her time at Otterbein, Jean was involved in choir and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Tau (Owls) sorority. In addition to raising her four children, she worked as an elementary school teacher in Columbus; a tutor in Centerville; and a travel agent. She was an active member in her college women’s organization.

Jean was preceded in death by her daughter, Marcy; her children’s father, Stan Sherriff ’50; siblings, Marion, Evelyn, John and Jerold. She is survived by sister-in-law, Polly Share; children, Ellen Ireland, John Sherriff, Jane Black; grandchildren, Elizabeth Ireland, Olivia Ireland, Justin Owens, Chelsea (Wyatt) Smith, Charlie Black and Hazel Black; great-grandchildren, Jared, Jada and Jenny Owens, Kara and Kendra Smith.
