Kathleen Conley Weidley, Class of 1951

Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Conley Weidley ’51 died Aug. 16, 2017. She was born in Dayton, Ohio to the late Margaret Frazier ’23 and Charles Conley on Nov. 14, 1929. Kathy attended the Columbus School for Girls, going on to graduate from Otterbein with a degree in Music Education in 1951.
During her time at Otterbein she was involved in band, choir, and the Sigma Alpha Tau sorority. She also met her future husband, Richard Weidley Sr. ’50, and they were married a few months after graduation. She taught music for 33 years in the Orange County Public School District in Florida, and performed in symphonies in Florida, New York, and Ohio playing the cello. Kathy established a youth orchestra in Florida and inspired thousands of students through her love of music. She was also a dedicated supporter of the Otterbein Annual Fund, and various animal shelters and music groups across the country.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband Richard Weidley Sr. ’50 and son Rick Weidley. She is survived by children Cynthia Potter and Susan Webb, grandchildren Cassidy Pedram, Mariah Webb, Jonathan Weidley, and Summer Webb; and great-grandchildren Jakob, Lucas, and Zoe Pedram.
