Kathrine Ackerman McDannald ’63 died Oct. 27, 2020. She was born in Camden, New Jersey, on Jan. 20, 1942, to the late Harold Ackerman and Thelma Fogleman Ackerman.
Kathy was a 1963 graduate of Otterbein College with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology/home economics. While at Otterbein, she was involved in the Kappa Phi Omega (Onyx) sorority and Women’s Athletic Association. Kathy was also a 2000 graduate of Muskingum College with an Associate of Applied Science in occupational therapy. For years, she was self-employed as an occupational therapy assistant and touched countless lives before retiring in 2010.
Kathy was an active member of Sunbury United Methodist Church, and was passionate in her work as a youth leader and youth mission coordinator. She also received recognition from the United Methodist Women’s group for her dedication and excellent service to the community.
Kathy is survived by her husband Ray McDannald; daughters, Heidi McDannald ’90 (Jim Crowl), Kelly ’96 (Brad) Slavens, Tracie (Jason) Montague; sisters, Penny ’69 (Tom) Brewer, Judy ’70 (Jim) Henry; and grandchildren, Mea, Anika, Taner, Ally, and Morgan.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her aunt Bonne Gillespie McDannald ’39.
