Marcia Searfos Ogle ’66 died September 4, 2019. She was born April 28, 1933 to the late Clyde and Rachel Searfos. Marcia grew up in Columbus and graduated from East High and Otterbein College. In 2015, Marcia and her family made a combined commitment to establish the Dr. P. Rexford Ogle Endowed Scholarship in memory of Marcia’s husband of 56 years. Rex Ogle, who passed away January 1, 2010, was a chemistry professor, student mentor and service leader at Otterbein for 29 years. The scholarship supports an Otterbein student majoring in chemistry. The endowment effort was supported by her family; Dr. Myron ’77 and Chris Campbell; and Judge Richard Frye.
Marcia was a 55-year member of Church of the Master UMC, she served in many capacities and in that wonderful congregation she had many dear friends. Her servant heart guided her involvement with the United Methodist Women, Interfaith Hospitality Network, The South Side Settlement House, Triple S Camps, The Open Shelter, Heifer Project International, Volunteers in Mission, and Grace Children’s Hospital in Haiti. Marcia worked hard to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to Earth. She loved fiercely, lived faithfully, and followed Jesus fearlessly.
