Maria Platano, Class of 1967

Maria Platano ’67 died March 8, 2021. She was born July 14, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Daniel and Sue Platano Sr.

Ria proudly attended Otterbein College and graduated with a degree in physical science. She was in the Theta Ne (Greenwich) sorority and played basketball. She was an athlete, Guidance Counselor, artist, golfer and worked for the Painesville City Local Schools.
Ria was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Always smiling, always loving, always positive. She loved her dogs, Sammy and Gracie. Mostly, she took great joy in her family and friends, and loved being an aunt to two nieces and six grand nieces and nephews. Survivors include her brother, Daniel (Cathy) Platano Jr.; nieces, Charise (Allen) Sanders and Chandra (Jason) Ruminski.
