Mark N. Peters, Class of 1970

Mark N. Peters ’70 died on Dec. 5, 2018. He was born March 18, 1948 to Robert E. and Betty L. Matlock Peters of Springfield, OH. Mark graduated from Springfield South High School 1966 and attended Otterbein College where he received a bachelor’s degree in Speech, English and Theater Technology in 1970. He taught English and Literature in Australia for a year after graduation, returning to Otterbein in 1972 to work with the theater technology program. In 1982 he took a job in the mail room at American Electric Power. He attended Columbus State College and The Ohio State University receiving a baccalaureate degree in computer engineering from OSU in 1993.

He retired from AEP as a computer information technologist in 2008. During his retirement Mark devoted many volunteer hours to Otterbein University, scanning and cataloging archival material and serving as a member of Otterbein’s Theater Advisory Board. He was recognized as one of Otterbein’s outstanding alumni volunteers in 2012. Mark was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Peters. He is survived by his brothers, Eric (Elaine) Peters and Robert L. (Kathy) Peters; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
