Wells Dr Mary Cay Carlson 47

Mary Cay Carlson Wells died on July 24, 2019.  Dr. Wells was a lifelong educator, dedicated to serving her family and community. Professor of education at Otterbein 1980-1992, she was co-founder of the Dellinger-Carlson Scholarship endowment honoring her parents and other family members who were also Otterbein alumni. Mary Cay married fellow Otterbein student John Wells (Rev. Church and mission work were very important to Mary Cay. She was a member of the Church of the Master since moving to Westerville in 1964, sang in the choir with her late husband John, and composed several choral responses for the choir, sung many times during service (s). Mary Cay volunteered and served on the board of NNEMAP, a local food pantry. In her final years at Friendship Village, Mary Cay was active in the Village Writer’s, Holiday Decorating, Women’s Club, Chimers, Humanities, and Friendly Visitors. Their three children (Philip Wells ’77, Gwen Wells Blair ’76 and Kay Wells Landis ’74) are also Otterbein alumni; grandson Benjamin Landis also attended Otterbein.
