Professor of education at Otterbein 1980-1992, she was co-founder of the Dellinger-Carlson Scholarship endowment honoring her parents and other family members who were also Otterbein alumni. Mary Cay married fellow Otterbein student John Wells (Rev. John F. Wells ’48, professor of psychology at Otterbein 1979-1992 and a World War II veteran, who passed away on January 5, 2019). Mary Cay and John were charter members of the Friends of the Courtright Memorial Library. Church and mission work were very important to Mary Cay. Mary Cay volunteered and served on the board of NNEMAP, a local food pantry.
