Nancy Gallagher Macakanja, Class of 1959

Nancy Gallagher Macakanja ’59 died Dec. 19, 2019. She graduated from Otterbein in 1959 with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education. During her time at Otterbein Nancy was involved in choir, Tan and Cardinal, Delta Omicron, and as a member of the Theta Nu sorority. She went on to receive a master’s degree in Education from University of Buffalo, and taught at a Williamsville Elementary School.

She was the beloved wife of Richard Macakanja; stepmother of Gregory Macakanja and the late Juliane Foley; grandmother of Sarah Foley and Pamela Macakanja; great-grandmother of Mason Strasser and Rylee Strasser; sister of James Gallagher, Margaret Landon and Doris Ann Neubauer; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
