Norma Knight McVay, Class of 1952

Norma Knight McVay ’52 died May 17, 2019. She was born in Massillon, Ohio to the late Ralph and Helen Knight on Oct. 4, 1929. Norma graduated from Otterbein with a bachelor of science in Home Economics. During her time at Otterbein she was active in the Women’s Athletic Association, the honorary society Torch and Key, and was a member of the Tau Epsilon Mu sorority.
Norma was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading, and solving puzzles. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Middletown, the Presbyterian Women’s Association, the sanctuary choir, the handbell choir and volunteered for the Kindergarten Readiness program and at the Middletown Community Center, where she taught a class on sewing. Norma also taught at Middletown High School until she retired in 1990.
Norma is survived by her daughters, Diana McVay ’77, Beth McMullen ’79, Susan Honious ’81 and Carol McVay ’81; her grandchildren, Heather, Rachel, Rebecca and Sarah; and her siblings, Elizabeth Ann Smythe and Richard Knight. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl S. McVay and her brothers John Knight and Ralph Knight.
