Patricia Nutt Shuter ’46 died Dec. 12, 2020. She was born on Feb. 15, 1924 to the late Wilbur and Adda (Potter) Nutt. Pat was a 1946 alumni of Otterbein College with a Bachelor’s in music who went on to study music therapy at Michigan State University. At Otterbein, Pat was a member of the Epsilon Kappa Tau (Arbutus) sorority.

She was a consummate pianist, able to play complicated pieces by merely listening to them. She was passionate about children; loving her children and grandchildren, teaching piano lessons to the young, working at Happy Acres with developmentally disabled children, and in more recent years, reading stories to children on Monday mornings at Worthington Park Elementary School. She was equally passionate about creating art; taking drawing classes in college, making artful quilts for herself and her family, dancing for years with a creative dance group, making handmade Christmas cards to send to family and friends, writing poetry and prose, taking pictures of nature, carving stone at the Cultural Arts Center, and in her later years, making collages with the Griswold Senior Center. She was an active and long term member of First Community Church, where she first met her husband to be, John (Jack) Shuter. She loved living in Rush Creek Village in Worthington, making her garden and house beautiful.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, John Shuter. Pat will be greatly missed by her children, Mark (Susan) Shuter, Mathew (Rebecca) Shuter, and Marty (Steve Blake) Shuter; grandchildren Damon (Jill) Shuter, and Derek Gagnon; great granddaughter, Lauren Shuter; brother-in-law, David (Jan) Shuter; nieces and nephews, Kelli (Chris) Shuter Cessna, Kristin Shuter Houston, and Kristopher (Beth) Shuter.
