Phyllis Reed Morgan, Class of 1952

Phyllis Reed Morgan ’52 died June 7, 2021 at Brookdale Westerville. She was born May 1, 1930 and was 91 years old. Phyllis was a graduate of Otterbein University where she met her husband Jim Morgan ’51 and was part of the Epsilon Kappa Tau (Arbutus) sorority. Phyllis and Jim were longtime supporters of Otterbein and started a scholarship for students.
She was employed as a kindergarten teacher her entire career at Westerville City Schools. She was always an advocate of lifelong learning and an avid reader. After retirement she and Jim traveled extensively throughout the United States in their RV. She delighted in volunteering at Inniswood Metro Park. Besides gardening her hobbies included quilting, basket weaving, sewing and playing the piano, in all of which she was quite accomplished.
She is survived by her husband Jim Morgan ’51; daughter Margie ’72 (Rick) Doone, sons David ’78 and Eric (Amy) Morgan, granddaughters Erin (John D) Biehl, Lena and Lily Morgan, and great-grandson John R Biehl. She is also survived by her sister Gail Hetzler, and two brothers.
