Ralph Bender, Class of 1959

Ralph E. Bender ’59 died on March 30, 2016. He served as a medic in the Army Reserve. He was a teacher for over 33 years and public speaking and debate teacher and coach while also directing many plays and musicals. He was recognized as Teacher of the Year and inducted in the Centerville/Washington Township Education Foundation Hall of Fame. He was a member of Pi Beta Sigma. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Lynn; three children; four grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Bender Vance ’51 and Nancy Bender Carlton ’64; brother-in-law, Robert F. Vance ’49; and many nephews and nieces including Kathryn Vance Latosky ’80.
