Richard ‘Dick’ Bridgman ’49 died July 12, 2021. He was born January 20, 1928 in Piqua OH to the late Lucile and Howard Bridgman. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and during his time at Otterbein, Dick was involved with the O Club, Sibyl, the football team, Sigma Zeta, and was a member of Zeta Phi fraternity.
After graduating, he married Carolyn Boda ’50, earned a Master’s in Education, and went on to serve 32 years as a teacher, assistant principal, and director of secondary education for Kettering Schools.

In his retirement, Dick became a licensed pilot, a certified bareboat captain, a certified scuba diver, a snow and water skier, a volunteer at Carillon Park in the Aviation building, and skilled at home remodeling.

Dick is preceded in death by his son, Dr. Michael Bridgman ’73, and survived by Carolyn, children Rev. David Bridgman ’78 (Miriam Goehring Bridgman ’77), John Bridgman, and Thomas Bridgman; daughter-in-law Cynthia Hupp Bridgman ’75; grandchildren Jeff Bridgman, Lisa (Jeff) Meyerhoffer, Andy (Maria) Bridgman, Jeremy (Megan) Bridgman ’04, Charis Bridgman ’07, Sam Bridgman and Max Bridgman; and eight great-grandchildren.
