Richard “Rick” F. Merola, Class of 1989

Rick Merola ’89 died on May 11, 2019 at the age of 52. He was a graduate of St. Charles High School and attended Otterbein College. During his time at Otterbein, Rick was involved in soccer and track and field, where he was an All American in Decathlon. He was also a member of the Zeta Phi (Zeta) fraternity. Rick was also a member of Heroes Alliance, Heroes Strong and Magic Wheelchair. He was preceded in death by his father Richard F. Merola, Sr. He is survived by his daughter, Danielle Merola; son, Aric Merola ’19; mother, Ellie Merola; brother, Dave Merola; niece, Ava and nephew, David; partner in crime, Carol Martin and her children, Alex, Jackson and Harrison Martin.
