Ruth Deever Moody ’44 died Dec. 31, 2020., Ruth was born August 4, 1922 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Otterbein and Florence (Wilkin) Deever. She graduated from Fairview High School in Dayton and Otterbein College where she was involved in the Sigma Alpha Tau (Owls) sorority.

Ruth had a long and successful career as a Homemaker, an occupation in which she took great pride. She took an active role in her children’s lives and her local church. She also had an adventurous streak and loved to plan and carry out family camping trips and later trips abroad. She and late husband Floyd Moody ’44 moved to the Mansfield area in 1974. They were active in local churches and started a food co-op. They also were part of the Malabar Spinning and Weaving Guild and would visit school classes to teach the children about weaving. She lived by the motto, ‘Live simply so others may simply live.’

Ruth is survived by children Timothy ’68, Kathryn Moody Arndt ’69, Beth Moody Weisbrod ’77 and son-in-law Benjamin Weisbrod ’77; 5 grandchildren including Sara Weisbrod ’12 (Adam ’06) Koehl, and 7 great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her brothers Philip ’34 and John ’35 Deever; sister-in-law Josephine Stoner Deever ’30 and sister Kathryn Deever Lott ’40.
