Scott Cavanagh, Class of 1986

Scott Cavanagh ’86 died March 27, 2019. He was born on Jan. 24, 1963 in New York City to the late Edward and Evelyn (Gilmore) Cavanagh. Scott earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Otterbein College and was a member of the tennis team, ‘O’ club, Sibyl yearbook, and Pi Beta Sigma fraternity. He lived in many places growing up but remained in Central Ohio after graduating from Otterbein, where he met his wife, Judy Janusz ’86. Scott especially enjoyed tennis, music, spending time with friends and family, following the Celtics, Mets and Vikings, and his memorabilia collections. He was a talented writer and journalist with work featured in numerous publications.

Scott was preceded in death by sister Dawn Cavanagh, and is survived by wife Judy Cavanagh ’86; sister Susan (Frank) Dzieciolowski; brother Brian Cavanagh; niece Sandy Dzieciolowski; nephew Christopher (Kristy) Cavanagh; grandnephews Matthew and Joseph Cavanagh; grandniece Ryleigh Cavanagh; and “New York” and “St. Louis” cousins.
