Virginia DeWitt Ruffing, Class of 1970

Virginia Ruffing ’70 died Dec. 5, 2019. She was born in Squirrel Hill, Pennsylvania on May 20, 1935. Virginia graduated from Otterbein with a bachelor of science in Elementary Education as an adult student, as well as a master’s in Education from The Ohio State University. She loved to sing and was a member of the “Sweet Adolines”. Virginia was also a counselor for Westerville North High School, a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church, and a Stevens Leader. She and her husband Harold established an endowed award for outstanding elementary education majors at Otterbein, so that others like her can teach the next generation. She is survived by her husband Harold Ruffing, sons David DeWitt and Rick DeWitt, seven grandchildren, and a brother, John Banta.
