Waldon Reed, Class of 1950

Waldon “Walt” Reed ’50 Nov. 18, 2019. He was born on June 28, 1925 in Johnstown, OH to the late Forrest and Carrie (Green) Reed. Walt grew up in Center Village working on the family farm. A graduate of Harlem High School, he served in the US Army stateside during WW II and graduated from Otterbein College. He was involved in the Sigma Delta Phi (Sphinx) fraternity, Leather Helmet Gang, and played football at Otterbein.

Walt was Post Master in Galena for several years in the early 1950’s. A true salesman at heart, he was an on the road rep for the Connersville Casket Company, the Columbus Stove Company, and several furniture manufactures covering Northern Ohio. Walt truly loved to sell and be out on the road. He continued his sales career well into his mid-80’s. He was a member of the Harlem Boys Breakfast Club and the Ohio Home Furnishings Rep. Association for many years. An active golfer for many years, he was proud of his hole-in-one on the #3 at the old Sunbury Golf Course.

Walt is survived by his wife Patricia (Borden), daughter Terri Maselli, sister-in-law Virginia Grove, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by sister Elizabeth Ely, son-in-law Ralph Maselli Jr. and numerous in-laws.
