High School Teaching Licensure in Chemistry

Otterbein is an excellent institution for students who are interested in becoming high school chemistry teachers. We work closely with our Department of Education to ensure a quality pathway for you to become an exceptional teacher. Our graduates are now employed in schools in the Columbus area and beyond.

Typically, students will earn a B.A. degree in chemistry while also taking classes to meet the Adolescent to Young Adult Teaching Licensure requirements.

In addition to required courses, you also have the opportunity to work with faculty on designing chemistry curriculum, serve as tutors and teaching assistants, and engage the community through chemistry outreach with our Otterbein University Student Chapter of the American Chemical Society.
