Parking

All cars parking on campus are required to be registered with the Otterbein Police Department. If you need a parking decal or visitor’s pass, please visit our office at 194 W. Main St. with your license plate, year, make, model, and color of car.

Students are advised to park their vehicles as close as possible to their residence hall and not use their vehicle to drive to classes. Due to the lack of extra parking space, it may be very difficult for students to find a permitted parking space. Students are not permitted to park in visitor parking.

The Campus Life Handbook defines the specific policies and regulations that apply to all faculty, staff, and students driving and parking vehicles on campus. Additional information in the handbook regarding parking include: early graduation, special permits, procedures for special situations, and the Chronic Offender Policy.

University traffic and parking citation appeals can be filed online here.

Otterbein University assumes no responsibility or liability for a motor vehicle or its contents while parked or operated on the property of Otterbein University.

Eligibility and Registration

Any Otterbein student, faculty or staff member may operate a motor vehicle in the campus area, provided that vehicle is properly registered and the decal properly displayed. The campus area is interpreted as all college-owned property within the north boundary of the athletic fields and their extension on the north, Knox Street and its extension on the east, Plum Street on the south and West Street on the west.

The ability to register and operate a motor vehicle is a privilege that may be revoked by failure to operate and park a motor vehicle properly. Motor vehicles shall be registered for the year no later than the third day of classes at the beginning of the academic year with the Police Office, located at 194 W. Main Street. Decals will NOT be mailed. Any person wishing to register a motor vehicle after the beginning of the academic year must do so within three working days of bringing the vehicle to campus. Individuals may not register vehicle(s) for another person to use in the campus area (state registration to determine ownership), and the signature on the registration application will be considered as evidence of a thorough understanding of these regulations. The vehicle decal/registration owner is ultimately responsible for violations of that vehicle.
