Travel Experiences

Opportunities exist to travel to regional and national conferences of the American Physical Society (APS) and the American Association of Physics Teachers, where students can present the results of their research and deepen and develop professional relationships.

Students also pursue externally funded research experiences across the US and the world through the National Science Foundation’s Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. Recent participants have spent summers at Coe College, BYU, the University of Utah, the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Batavia, IL), the University of California at Davis, and the European particle physics laboratory CERN in Geneva, Switzerland.

Study abroad is a tremendously enriching experience, and we encourage all students to consider it. You can develop a plan for spending a semester taking courses at a foreign university, or pursue a shorter Otterbein travel course in the Integrative Studies and Senior Year Experience programs. Students can apply for financial support from various sources to engage in travel experiences.
