Become An RA.

The Resident Assistant (RA) position allows you to develop your leadership skills, make new friends, help others and become an expert about campus resources. Some weeks you may be really busy with RA duties, while other weeks are very chill. It ultimately depends on the needs of your residents and how you manage your time. RAs are expected to devote at least 10 hours per week to their position doing the following tasks:

  1. Creating a sense of community by interacting with each resident weekly
  2. Planning interactive events to help residents get to know each other
  3. Answering student questions and helping residents find campus resources
  4. Providing assistance when students are locked out of their rooms or an item in the building needs repair
  5. Performing check-ins and check-outs each semester
  6. Participating in the duty on-call rotation (9pm-Midnight Sun-Th, 9pm-1am Fri-Sat)
  7. Creating a bulletin board monthly
  8. Creating two (2) doors decorations per semester
  9. Addressing University policy violations and write incident reports

Along with your new RA application, please sit with a RA on duty one night and complete this Shadow Guide. You will turn this in to the Student Affairs Office by the application deadline: February 3, 2023.
