Test Optional Admission & Scholarships Policy

Otterbein has adopted a test optional admission policy. Students will be able to select through the Common Application if they would or would not like test scores to be used in the evaluation of their admission application. Students with a high school GPA of 2.75 or lower are encouraged to submit a test score if available. Students will not be disadvantaged for the submission of test scores, so, if available, we would recommend submitting official scores.

Certain academic programs or courses will require an ACT/SAT score, placement score, or additional pre-requisite courses for enrollment.

  • The Honors Program (Please note that current students that have completed at least one semester at Otterbein and have earned a 3.5 GPA can also apply to the Honors program.)
  • Education
  • Engineering
  • Nursing
  • Scholars Day competition for students competing for full tuition scholarships

Per our standard admission policy, students are able to submit updated scores or admission criteria up to January 15 to have your application reevaluated for admission and/or merit aid.

The calculation of scholarships and merit aid will be based upon the information submitted, and will not penalize a student whether or not they submit a test score, except as noted above.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your Admission Counselor at uotterb@otterbein.edu or 614-823-1500.
