Writing Center

The Writing Center at Otterbein supports students in writing assignments for any of their courses, free of charge. The Writing Center can also help with speeches, presentations, and more. Students are invited to visit at any point in the process for help with brainstorming, drafting, consulting and citing sources, editing and revising their papers, incorporating feedback, or other writing concerns. Students can schedule up to 4 hours of Writing Center consultation each week.

For graduate and professional students or honors students completing their distinction theses, please schedule with Kyle Eveleth, Writing Services and Tutoring Coordinator.

    Writing Center appointments are one-hour, one-on-one appointments scheduled with a Writing Center Assistant. Students can schedule between 24 hours and 21 days in advance. Ad hoc drop-in sessions will be announced via campus media.

    Writing Center Hours and Location

    The Writing Center is in Courtright Memorial Library room 216. In-person writing support sessions can be scheduled any time the library is open and an assistant is available. Online writing sessions are conducted via Teams.

    Qualifications of content tutors:

    • Recommended by instructors.
    • Earned an A or B in the courses they tutor.
    • Possess strong content knowledge, study strategies, and communication skills.
    • Hired, trained, and supervised by the Academic Support Center.
