Donor Spotlights
Every donor has a story and a passion that inspires their support of Otterbein, our students and our campus community. But more than donors, the many alumni, students, employees, friends, and neighbors that help support Otterbein are part of a diverse community that stands behind the mission and values that our University represents. Their stories showcase the generosity, creativity, and desire to help others that our donors embody and inspire each and every day. Read some of them below.

Supporting Our Scholars
Mark Thresher ’78 and Debbie Scott Thresher ’77 will tell you the best things in their lives can be traced to an Otterbein football game in the fall of 1975. That was when Mark, a sophomore, says he first spotted Debbie Scott, a junior, in the crowd at Memorial Stadium. He decided he had to meet her and came up with a strategy to get his foot in the door at Debbie’s sorority house. It worked - and he wasn’t…
Long-Standing Loyalty
Dave Lehman’s ’70 connection to Otterbein runs deep, going back to his boyhood when he would peek through the fence at Memorial Stadium to watch the powerhouse Cardinal football teams in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He went on to make his own mark in Otterbein athletics, first as a member of the cross country and track teams and later as a highly successful coach in those sports at the University for more than 40 years. He retired from…
Alumnus Rallies Classmates to Honor David Deever ‘61
The Summer Breeze gathering in June 2015 was a chance for the free-spirited students of the ’70s to kick back and enjoy the college experience together again. And as they reminisced on the people who made their college experience special, a group came together to honor a beloved math professor by announcing an endowed fund in his name. Alan Goff ’75 and 21 fellow alumni created the Dr. David Deever Mathematics and Computer Science Endowed Fund. Many of them were…
