Get to Know Some of the New Faces on Campus

Campus is buzzing with activity again, and a new group of students — the Class of 2027 — have joined the Otterbein community. This class has already shown a lot of energy and enthusiasm, so Otterbein is in for a great school year! Let’s meet some of the new Cardinals.

Abbie Long

Major: Political Science

Hometown: West Liberty, OH

Fun Fact: I am an epilepsy ambassador for the National Epilepsy Foundation! I hope to bring awareness to campus about epilepsy and seizure first aid!!

I want to join Greek Life, Student Government, and SEEDS (a student volunteer group). I look forward to getting involved and making lots of new friends!

Sara Mendez

Major or undeclared: Business administration and management and Finance

Hometown: Reynoldsburg, OH

Fun Fact: I love to sing.

I’m looking forward to starting this new journey and getting to have experiences I wouldn’t have in my hometown.

Nina Goodlett

Major: Journalism and Education

Hometown: Westerville, OH

Fun Fact: I graduated at the age of 17.

I am going to join the Black Student Union and Sisters United. I’m looking forward to First Friday and Homecoming.

Danielle Halterman

Major: PreK-5 Primary Education

Hometown: Westerville, OH

Fun Fact: I’m the third generation and seventh family member to attend Otterbein! My cousin Gabe is also a freshman here this year!

I’m a member of the women’s golf team. I’m super excited to prepare myself for teaching because it is something I have wanted to do my entire life!

Paul Gosu

Major: Computer Science

Hometown: Grove City, OH

Fun Fact: I like to travel.

I’m looking forward to volunteering and meeting new people on campus.

Maya Samlan

Major: Marketing and Equine Business

Hometown: Mount Prospect, IL

Fun Fact: I live five minutes away from Chicago.

I’m on the equine riding team. I am looking forward to joining clubs on campus and I want to sign up to be an animal volunteer.

Brandon Mclaughlin

Major: Criminology and Justice Studies

Fun Fact: I am particular about decorating rooms

I’m a member of the men’s basketball team. I am looking forward to the campus feel.

Joshie Garcia-Ramos

Major: Nursing

Hometown: Columbus, OH

Fun Fact: I hate pencils.

I want to be a part of Greek life and become a peer mentor. I’m looking forward to finding my home away from home.

Issac Phillips

Major: Sport Management

Fun Fact: I’m originally from Texas.

I am looking forward to basketball season and being on the team.

Katherine Wilt 

Major: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology on the pre-med track

Hometown: Toledo, OH

Fun fact: I was in London on the last day of Queen Elizabeth’s Jubilee!

At Otterbein I will be a student-athlete and run cross-country and track and field. I will also be involved in the CardinalCorps Leaders. I am looking forward to getting on campus and diving into my field of study while meeting unique people and having fun!
